Hey there, I’m Leah.

And I’m so glad you’re here.

What makes working with me unique?

Whether we are struggling with past experiences or current stressors, we all have seasons where it may be difficult to gain insight, remember our goals or dreams, and come back to ourselves in a loving or curious way. It is my hope to walk alongside you as you navigate life’s challenging seasons, discover your inner strength and wisdom, and collaborate with you to pursue a life that aligns with your values and dreams. My work has highlighted the impact of institutional, cultural, and personal factors that can make conditions for living well a challenge. For this reason, I am passionate about providing resources for marginalized populations, and creating a space for bravery, connection, and authenticity. I work with teens, young adults, and older adults from all walks of life, but have a particular passion for working with queer people, people managing trauma, and those struggling to build and maintain healthy relationships.

About Me

My approach to therapy is strengths based, trauma-informed, culturally humble, and person-centered, much of which is rooted in attachment, psychodynamic, and queer and feminist theories. I work within an empowerment model, utilizing relational and collaborative techniques to help make meaning of their lives and their identity shaping experiences. Throughout the course of the therapeutic relationship, I will support clients in finding their voice and implementing possible solutions to address their needs. I will do this through promoting balance, increasing mind-body awareness in safe and productive ways, and cultivating increased self-understanding and self-acceptance. I draw from an eclectic mix of modalities aimed to meet each individual’s needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Somatic based approaches, elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Narrative Therapy, and elements of Polyvagal techniques.

I earned my Masters of Social Work (MSW) from Portland State University with a clinical focus viewed from a social justice lens. I am a Licensed Social Work Associate Independent Clinical (LSWAIC) in the state of Washington and a Clinical Social Work Associate (CSWA) in the state of Oregon, meaning I am able to serve community members from both states. I am supervised by a licensed professional to ensure that my services are appropriate, ethical, and well supported. My experience working in the mental health field has supported a variety of populations including survivors of intimate partner violence, people struggling with addiction, teens in school based settings with a variety of struggles including depression, anxiety, and trauma to name a few.

In my free time I enjoy spending my time outside, playing sports, and reading SciFi novels.

At this time, I am accepting private pay sessions with a sliding scale option for those that may face barriers to mental and behavioral health care, especially those with marginalized identities be they racial, queer, disabled, etc
